چکیده

The interplay between electric field-controlled surface magnetic anisotropy and micromagnetic nucleation modes for L10-CoPt thin films is investigated with density-functional and micromagnetic model calculations. The electric field redistributes electron states near the Fermi level, which has a fairly strong effect on the surface anisotropy, but due to inversion symmetry, the net anisotropy of the films with odd numbers of layers remains unchanged. By contrast, the micromagnetic nucleation mode is spatially asymmetric even for symmetric thin films with odd numbers of layers. This leads to a reduction of the nucleation field (coercivity) and—for suitably chosen nanostructures—to substantial changes in the hysteretic behavior. In the lowest order, the coercivity reduction is independent of the total film thickness. This counterintuitive feature can potentially be exploited in magnetoelectric switching devices.

Magneto-optical spectra of long range chemically ordered FePd(001) alloy films

The occurrence of chemical ordering can have a dramatic influence on structural, electronic, and magnetic properties in many materials systems. Examples of recent interest are binary metallic alloy systems such as CoPt, FePt, and FeAu, where strong interdependencies between magnetic and magneto-optical properties and the degree of long range chemical ordering have been observed. Near the equiat...

Effect of Magnetic Field on Surface Morphology and Magnetic Properties of FeCu/Cu Nano layers Prepared by Electrodeposition Technique: Investigation of Magneto-hydrodynamic Effect

In this paper, the effect of magnetic field on the morphology, structure and magnetic properties of electrodeposited FeCu/Cu thin films was investigated. The films were deposited on Au2PdAg/glass substrates using electrodeposition technique in potentiostatic control. The magnetic fields of 5000 and 7000 Oe were applied on deposition bath during deposition. Two series of thin films were prepared...

Temperature and thickness dependence at the onset of perpendicular magnetic anisotropy in FePd thin films sputtered on MgO„001..

The onset of chemical order L10 phase and perpendicular magnetic anisotropy in FePd 001 thin films sputtered on MgO 001 at temperatures from room temperature to 700 °C and thickness between 1.4 and 22 nm are investigated. It is found that the formation of the FePd ordered phase exhibiting high perpendicular magnetic anisotropy L10 phase with the c axis in the growth direction is affected by a t...

The Perpendicular Magnetic Anisotropy of CoPt/Au Multilayer Films

We have studied the magnetic properties of Au (2 nm)/Co50Pt50 (3 nm)/Au (2 nm) multilayer films prepared on amorphous Al2O3/Si and (0 0 1) MgO substrates. The as-deposited films on both substrates are magnetically soft with an FCC structure and exhibit a perpendicular anisotropy. After annealing at 500 °C, the sample on the Al2O3/Si substrate has become magnetically isotropic but the sample on ...
